Father McGivney, founder of the Knights of Columbus, sought to strengthen the familial bond of father to mother and children to parents. His vision for family life was not only financial and material aid but also spiritual strength. The majority of our time is easily spent in secular circles unless we intentionally create ways to live the domestic church. The Knights provide opportunities, created for families by families, to help us live this call.
Recognize our Families
Each month, the council Family of the Month committee selects one parish family that models Christian family values and visibly lives them every day. Once a year, we also select one of the previous twelve Family of the Month winners to represent the council/parish as the potential international Family of the Year. The Knights of Columbus Family of the Year is chosen by the Supreme Council and recognized each year at the annual Supreme Convention.
Help us strengthen and recognize families by letting us know of families who exhibit the values of our faith.
Keep our Community Clean
The existence of unsightly litter, garbage, posters, advertisements and other refuse along County roads detracts from the scenic and rural character of St. Mary’s County.
The Knights help keep St. Mary’s county beautiful by keeping a section of Route 5 pristine.
Foster Fellowship
Our breakfasts provides an excellent opportunity for Fellowship and for parishioners to get to know each other. Every month, there are opportunities for both the people supporting the pancake breakfast (generally Knights and their families) but also for parishioners who join together in “breaking of bread” and have breakfast with each other.
All proceeds from these events benefit Christmas in April.
